Some considerations when selecting a Medical Esthetics Academy or Laser Hair Removal School:
Quality and professional care are always things that we consider when choosing a day spa. The ‘how can we help?’ attitude and a good solid reputation is a must for us, so with that in mind, shouldn’t we look for those attributes when selecting an Esthetics Academy? Isn’t it important to ensure that your “Laser Hair Removal School” actually offers laser training as part of the core curriculum and not as an additional course? Students should be learning from instructors with the highest levels of expertise in the esthetics field that have extensive experience in all important aspects of laser therapy. Students need have the opportunity to learn through practical experience, training in state of the art facilities that include multiple lasers and being in an environment that actually feels like working in a spa.
After some consideration as to what the important attributes of an Esthetics school would be, I decided not to mention some of the more obvious ones and to think about some of the complaints that I’ve heard from friends that have been through some of the various schools and programs. I’m only mentioning three that stood out to me.
One of the first things that I have noticed is the shocking differences in both training standards and facilities. It has to be a pre requisite that all experience is on-site, and permanent medical staff are there to help students every step of the way. Medical professionalism in all aspects of the curriculum is of paramount importance and teaching these procedures with teacher continuity is a close second. Students need the opportunity to study with Instructors that they can trust, not only for teaching but so that they can also get reassurance in their own growing abilities. Nothing compares to side-by-side practical time with the estheticians and medical professionals.
Wouldn’t it be great to find a school where the instructors were involved in the curriculum development? Who would be better qualified to help educate than the writers of the course themselves? Amongst my friends are both estheticians and instructors, it seems that although only half of them are involved in teaching, all would agree that being able to “have a voice” in what was being taught would be an incredible advantage to the students.
Going above and beyond looks to be lacking in some instructors attitudes, thinking back to my own schooling I remember the classes that I enjoyed the most were the ones where the lecturer pushed & encouraged me. The desire to help students creates a far more engaging and conducive learning environment than anything else. An academy that provides more classroom time to help learn the important details would produce graduates that seek to give clients a phenomenal result.
Whether it be and Esthetics Academy or a Laser Hair Removal School there is no substitute for Teaching Stability, Professionalism and the Pursuit for Excellence.
